Hi, this is my first post and I would like to salute all of you. Now, I am trying to be less dependent on windows and i want to learn as much as possible from linux but It's impossible without help :-)

So here we go...

I am trying to get my wireless card working. I have a centrino -the first ones- with a 2100 card, my distro is a Mandrake 10.1 with a 2.6.11.11 kernel that i have just compiled succesfuly ( first time that has worked :-) ). I have instaled ipw2100 version 1.1.0 and the firmware 1.3 in "/lib/hotplug/firmware".

The problem comes when i try to load the ipw2100 module into kernel:

# modprobe ipw2100

i get:

FATAL: Error inserting ipw2100 (/lib/modules/2.6.11.11/kernel/drivers/net/wireless/ipw2100.ko): Unknown symbol in module, or unknown parameter (see dmesg)

and here is what dmesg says...

ipw2100: Unknown symbol release_firmware
ipw2100: Unknown symbol request_firmware


I have done all what is said in the README from ipw2100 authors again and again but i don't know what i'm doing wrong.


Any ideas will be welcome. Thanks!!
