Having trouble installing a piece of hardware? Want to know if that peripheral is compatible with Linux?

Building A Mini Dachstein

I'm looking to create a "Dachstein" router using floppyfw. I've done so before in the past, but the piece of junk (by today's standards) computer, that I used, is completely kaput.

I'm looking to build the smallest possible system for the least amount of money to serve as my router. All I need to make this thing run, is a processor (Pentium 1), > 12MB RAM, and networking cards.

Does anyone know where I could go about finding (or even building/modifying!) an old motherboard and chip set?

Ideally, I would like to wrap all this up in a little box, small enough so that I can mount it on a wall - so, the smaller the mobo, the better.

Your best bet for finding really old equipment would be on a site like eBay, or perhaps Craigslist You can probably find an entire old PC as a freebie on Craigslist, just check the listings for the city nearest you. Good luck with it
