Broadcom 440x driver Installation problem in Redhat 9
Hi,
I have installed Redhat 9 on my System. after restarting Network services ,some error is coming indicating that ethernet card not detected. I am searching for Broadcom driver for linux, Please help me out for Driver and its installation process.
thanks.
redhat 9 is very old, it was taken over by Fedora Core, i suggest install the latest fedora core before going any further.
either way, open a console and use 'su' to switch to root then do 'modprobe b44' and maybe 'ifconfig eth0 up'. if you have DHCP enabled and are connected with a router everything else should be set. if not post back your network setup.
if this doesnt work post back 'lspci' 'lsmod' and 'ifconfig eth0'
hi,
I have download the driver for broadcom 440x. After installing it source code its giving error like
" PRM build error: Bad exist status from /var/tmp/rpm-tmp.39224"
i imagine its not working because your using RH9, which as i mentioned is very old. if this is a fresh install of this OS i would highly recommend upgrading to something like Fedora Core 5 or 6. if you stick with RH9 on a new install im sure only more hardware issues will arise.
if you dont upgrade your going to have to stick with installing the driver you downloaded initially. make sure you follow the README _step_by_step, or else it wont work--a simple uppercase letter where theres supposed to be a lowercase letter could be the difference of it working or not.
since you have tried the RPM install, try the other method of compiling it yourself. please post back as much full output as you can.
