Hey everyone. I have 2 15" LCDs and I encounter this problem with every distro I use. For some reason, part of my screen will be perfectly clear, but others are really blury. If I drag the window to another part of the screen then it's fine. Usually it's a line right down the centre, or two on either side. If I change the refresh rate usually I can make the line move to another area but it's always there. I never have this problem in windows so it's not the monitor. For the horizontal and vertical synch's I just use what Linux detects. Could it be because I'm not using the proper ones? Also which is better for LCD 60hz, 70 or 75? I didnt think it mattered since LCDs don't refresh but anyone know what might be causing this? Thanks.
Kind of a long shot: Do you have any magnets (eg, as will be found in speakers) close to the monitor? Magnetic sources can distort the monitor's image. Note also that electrical currents can induce a magnetic field - if you have any power cords, etc, near the monitor (including running behind the walls) that may also contribute to the problem. Have you tried moving the monitor to a different place? If so, and the problem persists, I'd guess that the monitor is faulty (esp if you indicate that it exists for every OS you try). On the other hand, if it disappears, then you have some kind of local environmental problem that is degrading the monitor's performance -- J.W.
Do you use the same resolution, that you use in windows.
Lcd monitors are usually made for a specifik resolution and refreshrate,
like 800*600 - 60Mhz.
If you have the manual for the lcd's there might be a hint for the values to use.
Hey, no as I said it works fine in Windows XP or anything else, only in Linux it's blury. But it's only sometimes too. AFter I posted that I rebooted and it was fine. I just went back to Linux and it was blurry again so I pressed the auto adjust button and it seems to be a bit better, it's just every so often. But I use windows more and it's always perfectly clear, so not a problem with interference or bad monitor. And both do it as well so..
