Audio confliction

When I attempt to start up an application that utilizes sound after having already started XMMS, I receive no output from the newly executed program. Specifically, this happens after I select a folder of songs to play and then try to start up Quake3, ET, or UT. The playlist in XMMS will continue, and I'll have sound for a bit. But, after the next song finishes, that'll be the end of it. Keep in mind that this happens all while I still have absolutely zero output in the aforementioned applications. Alright, ignore this thread. I posted in the Slackware forum and was able to resolve my conflict.
