Audigy 2 digital output is no longer working for regular use

I was watching a movie with xine using the digital pass through to have the 5.1 sound output to my stereo amplifier and normally when I get done the system will automatically revert back to running the 2.0 sound on the digital interface. However tonight it just turns off the digital interface when ever stopped xine and for no reason. I don't quite understand what's going on but I can explain this much, the analog works just fine, although doesn't quite have the sound quality. When I restart the machine it pulses out to the receiver that the digital is available but when the display manager starts the digital signal is turned off.

I'm running an older Audigy 2, from back when the Audigy 2 came out.

My Audigy 2ZS does not produce any sound till I enable the Audigy output jack channel in kmix Mandriva 2009, then I have to mute it if not using it to get sound. If it's not enabled, no sound.

It was working just fine until I watched the movie. I've checked the mixer settings, and doubled checked the settings and nothing has been changed as far as I can tell. I've played with changing between modules in ALSA. I've also tried playing around the mixer settings and nothing seems to work.

I did boot into windows to see if the card was the problem and I had no problems while in windows.

I haven't a clue what I did exactly to solve the problem but here is what I did and it fixed the problem.

I installed my X-Fi from another computer then ran alsaconf to detect the card, powered the computer down installed the audigy again and presto, it works again.

Maybe this will help someone.
