Ati X800....
Just wondering if ANYONE has had ANY success running X with an ATI X800. My Linux info is as follows:
Linux Version: Fedora Core 2
Kernel: 2.6.5-1.358
Libc version: 6.3.3 (6.3)
XFree86 Version: 4.4.0 w/ DRM package installed
I can't even install the drivers without errors like this one:
"XFree86 drm includes at /lib/modules/2.6.5-1.358/build/-include/.../drivers/char/drm do not fit this driver.
This driver is meant for XFree86 Versions 4.1.0 and up."
(I've tried XFree86 versions 4.3.0 & 4.2.0 and they give the same message, and also tell me I can update to 4.1.0 by updating my kernel to 2.4.0.)
At the end of it all it says the driver was installed successfully and I should run fglrxconfig. So I do, and startx still crashes. With a multitude of error messages I'd be willing to supply if needed.
I am new to Linux but not fundamentally retarded. I've done a lot of searching and cannot find one issue with the card resolved, so as a final plea to sanity I am looking for any clues that could point me in the right direction.
