ATI Radeon 9700 pro is showing as 9500 pro

The new drivers (xorg6.8) are finally good. I couldn't get 8.8.25 to work. I just have a few questions though.
Is it normal for my 9700 pro to show as 9500 pro?
How do I change my refresh rate to 100hz?
When I change the resolution to 1280 x 960 part of the screen is missing. I would like to have it as that because 1600 x 1200 is a little too small.

i wouldent wory about it my friend has the same error i dont think its a big deal you lucky to have the damn things installed
no help for u there but at least u know its not just you
its probably an ati bug where they are identified the same
same core perhaps?

yea, don't worry, i got the same thing going on... From my hardware knowlege, these cards are really similar, especially in bios... ATI added some extra specs to make the 9700, in the windows omega drivers, theres even option to do a soft flash from 9500 to 9700. My card shows as 9500, and AA and UT2004 run smooth as silk.
