Architecture changed from i386 to i586

It would appear that the architecture on my laptop running running Redhat 9.0 changed from i386 to i586 without my help.

Is it possible to switch back to i386 easily?

Is there a reason you want to change it back? Are you developing software for the lowest common denominator?
