apparently not your avg. cpu frequency scaling problem...

Every %$#@!'n HowTo or thread that I can find on frequency scaling just assumes that I have a /sys/devices/system/cpu/cpu0/cpufreq/... directory. I have no such thing after cpu0. Lot's and lot's of babble about cpufreq drivers out there but not a lick about where to find one (which of the 8 or so packages do I rummage through to find it?), or how to get it recognized once I do. And no, I don't have the slightest clue why that stuff isn't there.

When I type cpufreq-info I get:

cpufrequtils 002: cpufreq-info (C) Dominik Brodowski 2004-2006
Report errors and bugs to linux@brodo.de, please.
analyzing CPU 0:
no or unknown cpufreq driver is active on this CPU

Can anyone shed some light on this?

Does your mobo even support CPU scaling? What exact make/model are you using?

Yes, it does...

It's an EVO n600c, but regardless it worked perfectly with knoppix using the cpufreq-set and cpufreq-info commands.
