Anybody looking for a Linux-compatible mono laser printer? Try a Brother HL-1112

My HP LaserJet 6L finally packed up after 22 years of faithful service.

I replaced it with a cheap non-wifi Brother mono laser HL-1112. A printer cable is required, as is the norm these days.

It works fine in Linux Mint and probably many other distros. The print quality is very good.

Simply download the Driver Install Tool from:

https://www.brother.co.uk/support/hl1112/downloads

and follow the supplied “How to Install” notes.

Brother periodically comes out with new models, but they are pretty much the same as the previous models.

Brother is the king of cheap. My HL-2140 is nearly 12 years old and still on the starter cartridge. The old strategy of "giving away the printer to sell cartridges" no longer works.

The Brother HL-1110 has superseded the HL-1112 but there is still plenty of brand new "old stock" available (in the UK at least on ebay etc).
