AMI/LSI MegaRAID help

Hi Guys,

I have an LSI Logic MegaRAID i4 IDE card. I have a four drive RAID 5 array set up and Slackware 9.0 is running like a champ! I do have a question though: How do I monitor array status within the OS? It would be great if I could get it to email me if a drive fails... or even just see how it's doing if I log in. Rebooting the server to make sure the drives are OK is no bueno.

I poked around on LSI's website, and it seems like they think "Linux" means "RedHat" which kinda sucks for me I guess. Does anybody have any suggestions? This is a server that is in a colo center, so I don't see it everyday. I'd hate to have a drive go and not realize it until a second dies and then I'm screwed...

Thanks!

Hi,
I think you will perhaps found interesting files and contacts (DELL servers oriented, sorry) available at the following URL :
http://www.domsch.com/linux/
(DELL OpenManage management suite have been compiled for Linux distrib other than Red Hat's)
Regards,

Cool (Debian) 2.4 kernel scsi megaraid module works with LSI 4i

I went all over google and back looking for this one.

Trick was, although 511 (LSI MegaRaid 4i) is populated with IDE drives, the kernel sees it as a SCSI controller.

Once I got the 2.4.x kernel configured with the SCSI Megaraid module, the logical drive showed up as /dev/sda.

Use fdisk to partition sda1 and then mkfs.ext3 (or whatever) and TADA! 1.06TB /data (8x160GB in RAID5)

Now to get the gigabit linksys card happy ...
