align cartridges

I have an HP DeskJet 916c installed (via USB) on my linux (Gentoo) server. I got it running via CUPS.

However, I recently changed the cartridges and haven't found a way to re-align the color with the black one. Under windows it's in the toolbox from HP;

Any ideas on how to do it?

HP Deskjet 900C Series Printers - How to Align the Print Cartridges

In this document:

Introduction

Aligning the print cartridges

Introduction

This document explains how to align, or calibrate, the print cartridges. This needs to be done if the color ink and black ink are not lining up on the printed page.
Aligning the print cartridges

Microsoft(R) Windows 3.1x

1. On the Windows desktop screen, open the HP Deskjet 900C Series window, and click HP Deskjet 900C Series Toolbox. The HP Deskjet 900C Series Toolbox dialog box appears.
2. On the Printer Services tab, click Calibrate the Printer. The Calibrate Printer dialog box appears.
3. Click Calibrate.

Microsoft Windows 95 or 98

1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to HP Deskjet 900C Series, and click HP Deskjet 900C Series Toolbox. The HP Deskjet 900C Series Toolbox dialog box appears.
2. On the Printer Services tab, click Calibrate the Printer. The Calibrate Printer dialog box appears.
3. Click Calibrate.

Macintosh

1. Go to the HP Inkjet Utility. In Mac OS 9 it is in the following location: Hard Drive / Applications (Mac OS 9) / Utilities. In Mac OS X, it is in: Hard Drive / Applications / Utilities.
2. From the menu at the top of the Inkjet utility window, select Calibrate Device.
3. Click Align.

NOTE: The green checkmark to the left of the last line indicates that the alignment was successful. Certain paper types can prevent the alignment from working.

Alternate method of aligning

1. Remove the cartridges from the printer.
2. Reinstall the cartridges and close the cover.
3. The printer will automatically calibrate the cartridges.

OR

4. Hold the POWER button down and tap (press and release) the CANCEL button three times.

I would email HP Tech Support and see what they say. Also search HP tech support. I just got this from a quick search. There might be a more specific detail for that model.
