1024x768 for s3trio3d/2x

I install FC 3 on my PC but It can't be set on 1024x768 resolution. I use S3Trio3D/2x video card. I have tried to add line "1024x768" in xorg.conf but when I reboot the PC, the monitor becomes off but the CPU still run. If i use MS Windows 98 and install the correct driver for my video card, i even can switch to resolution higher than 1024x768. What should I do? Is the problem about refresh rate? Thanks

I'm certainly no expert in this arena, but I would check to make sure you horizontal and vertical rates are set correctly for your monitor. You should be able to find this info in the owners manual or on the website of the monitor's manufacturer.
