Yum problem


Hi all!
When I try to do the following thing it is giving me this error

#yum install vnc
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror
Loading mirror speeds from cached hostfile

Trying other mirror.

When I try to ping google.com it is giving me the following error.
ping: unknown host www.google.com

I checked my /etc/resolv.conf file and I can find my nameserver. I am not getting what is wrong with this. Any help would greatly appreciated.

 yum --noplugins install vnc
fastmirror is causing the problem
