Yet Another Partioning Question

Hey-
my current Suse 9.1 Pro setup has 2 hardrives. One 40GB hardrive mounts the "/" directory and all its subdirectories, while my 120GB holds the "/home" directory and the /swap partition as well. . Do you all think this scheme is okay, or should i allocate more space to the "/" directory, seeing as that is weher most applications will be installed? Form what i can tell so far, most Linux apps don't have that big of a footprint, so i may be jumping the gun here.. But if i wanted to add more to the "/" directroy, whow would i go about doing that? I know that i would first need to partition the amount i want removed from the "/home" partition. Then, i assume i would need to mount this new partition as "/" in addition to the other "/" partition. A step-by-step would help me a lot.

Thanks,
-myk

I think 40gb should be just fine (I use about 10 gb for everything besides /home and I've never been close to running out of space). The things that really take up the most space on your hdd are videos, mp3s, and proprietary games. All of these can be stored in your /home directory. I wouldnt worry about repartitioning that 120GB to give your "/" HDD more space.

Yup. I don't think you'll be running out of space anytime soon.
