I want KDE to start up automatically when my new Arch system boots, but when I change the 3 to a 5 in inittab, I get the normal X windows system instead of KDE since starting KDE is defined by a file in each user's directory. Where can I change the "master" X WM type so that it will use KDE instead of TVM?? Thanks!
Distribution: Lots of distros in the past, now Linux Mint

I don't know about Arch, but in debian (which Arch is based on), there is a file in /etc that controls which window manage/desktop starts. It should be obvious from the name, although it might also be in the /etc/X11 directory. It's one line, so editing it isn't hard.

That works fine IF you are booting into a specific username. In this case, I want to be able to log in using the KDE login window (does it have one actually?).
In the end, I think I'm just gonna keep it like it is because now I can close KDE if I don't want to use it. Thanks guys!
i dont knwon about ARCH linux but it shlould be just a matter of editing some file(s), which one, well u have to do some search, may be googling will help
