x crash log?

I locked my screen with xscreensaver. When I came back to my computer an hour and a half later I was logged out. I lost some bookmarks and other data. My computer didn't restart according to uptime. I'm using dropline gnome on slackware 9. Where would I find out (log file?) if X crashed while I was gone? What's going on here?

Ahhh I found this in my /var/log/XFree86.0.log.old file

Fatal server error:
Caught signal 11. Server aborting

So I guess it did crash. Thanks.

Hmmm... now it crashes whenever I start xscreensaver. Even going into the gnome screensaver menu results in a crash of X.

~/.xsession-errors:

stderr is not a tty - where are you?
SESSION_MANAGER=local/teacup:/tmp/.ICE-unix/1778
