Why there is a "+"?

Hello all,
# fdisk -l /dev/hda
shows

Disk /dev/hda: 255 heads, 63 sectors, 1824 cylinders
Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 bytes

Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System
/dev/hda1 * 1 378 3036253+ b Win95 FAT32
/dev/hda2 379 1824 11614995 f Win95 Ext'd (LBA)
/dev/hda5 379 1398 8193118+ b Win95 FAT32
/dev/hda6 1399 1406 64228+ 83 Linux
/dev/hda7 1407 1426 160618+ 82 Linux swap
/dev/hda8 1427 1824 3196903+ 83 Linux

What does "+" imply? Does it mean something wrong with the partition?

I'm not entirely sure, but I'll give an educated guess based on your listing.

hda2 is the only partition that does not have a +, and this is a partition that you actually can't access because it doesn't have a filesystem (because it's the extended partiton). Perhaps the + means that it's an accessible partition?
