why Linux vs freeBSD?


What is freeBDS and how is it different from Linux? why would one use one over the other? why would an open source developer go with one vs the other? Both are open source. Seeing how there are not an unlimited number of open source developers, it seems like an inefficient use of resources. I look forward to comments.

They are different operating systems, i.e, they are using different kernels. FreeBSD was a created from original Berkeley UNIX while Linux was written from scratch ( well, minix, but all the minox code was thrown out )
