White lines all over virtual consoles

I have a very big problem with my virtual consoles. As soon as GRUB boots the kernel, all kinds of white lines appear across it making it hard to read. Then when it gets to the login screen, there are still a bunch of white lines. On tty2-tty6, there are vertical white lines running all the way down the screen, spaced maybe a centimeter apart. On tty1 there's a lot more white stuff.

This has been happening since last Monday. I was testing some CDs to see which were bootable (I mixed them up), and after I put in one that was apparently not bootable, the white lines appeared. They've been occuring ever since then.

Thanks for any help.

EDIT: I fixed it. I forgot that I had been screwing around with splashimages the night before, and after I uninstalled them, I left the splashimage line in my menu.lst.
