where is startup in linux as it is in windows


hi

i recently installed yahoo messanger 1.0.4 on slackware.
but the problem i m facing is whenever i boots my system yahoo messanger
starts automatically. i want to disable autostart of yahoo msgn .
i didn't find any setting regarding it in preference setting of yahoo msgn.
how can i do that.

No familiarity with slack at all but..

You didn't say which desktop you run. If it's KDE the startup may be in the "Autostart" folder which is in the hidden directory ".kde" in your home folder

within which i found following entry .
now which line should i edit to stop autostart of y-msgn.

None of them.

If it started from there you would find a script file appropiately named.
Now you have to find out how slack starts up apps, it could be in the init files or maybe bash_profile.
I don't know if slack uses system V
If it does have a look in /etc/init.d for a script
Next try is a slack newsgroup.
