hey i hear a lot of mentioning of linuxconf and redhat but i don't believe i have linuxconf on my box, i belive linuxconf is a main part of redhat that you config eveyrthing from? is it not in Redhat 9 or am i just missing the package? thanks.
you are advised NOT to downl=oad it, as it's deliberatly not there. Linuxconf may have been convenient, but it was very dangerous to use and had a habit of screwing things up big style, you are strongly advised to use the alternaitves that DO come with it, i believe they are called redhat-configure-something (replacing the somethign of course...)
yeah redhat-config-services, redhat-config-packages, etc. I find some of them buggy as well. I prefer going right to the source file and editing it by hand.
The apache conf tool really through me for a loop and messed up my whole configuration. Thats why I just edit the source now.
i have to agree - although the redhat gui tools are nice n' perty there is no substitute for learning how to edit the config files directly.
It's not too hard, you will find tonnes of info all over the web to help you out or post your questions here...(if you are stumped and after you have researched yourself :-)
oh ok, yeah i dont even use the redhat gui's mostly i just edit configs by hand learn better that way, i wasnt even really sure what linuxconf was now i know, thanks.
