View Poll Results: What Was Your First Linux Distro?
Debian Etch in 2007. I didn't really even know what Linux was yet, but was inspired by a neighbor's bumper sticker: a simple image of Tux and the word "Linux".
My first try was Ubuntu about 12 years ago and then I migrated to LinuxMint. Since that time I have distro hopped quite a bit and now regularly run Bodhi, PClinuxOS, LinuxMint and MXLinux multi booted on my laptops.
My very first distro was FreeBSD (I don't remember which version) on Compaq PC with 486 CPU. After that I tried SuSE. Since 2013 my main distro is Linux Mint. I write this post from PC with Manjaro XFCE.

So, you're saying your "first distro" was Linux Mint? FreeBSD isn't a Linux Distro.
Mint. That thing is the fastest way to make a newbie user run back to Windows... I don't remember how many times I was this close to running back to Windows. If it wasn't for the patience of a certain person in a Bulgarian forum, I wouldn't be a linux addict right now. When I installed Arch, I was literally reborn. 3rd year in a row with Arch and I can't use anything else anymore. Mint/Ubuntu/Debian/Fedora all make me sick.
I tried Ubuntu 11.04 (Natty Narwhal), which came out April 2011, using wubi.exe. It was like having a dual boot but Ubuntu was "inside" that program and you had the opportunity to boot into it at startup. I used the new Unity desktop environment and I was mesmerized. I know Mac tends to get love for appearances, but I was really impressed with the first Linux distro I saw. I saw it on another computer first and really felt like I wanted it.
