What is the VMA API?

Hey there!

I was installing the ATI Radeon 9700 Pro drivers, and got an error when the installer checked for VMA API version. Acording to the log, the versions are inconsistent.

So far I have deduced the VMA is part of Virtual Memory (Administration perhaps?), but I see no reason why it has to do with 3D drivers.

And still, I have not been able to locate where is that the problem resides. How do I upgrade my VMA? How can I know what version I have? I suppose it depends heavily on the Kernel, since the Kernel is supposed to work with all that obscure mumbo jumbo. As a note, I installed SuSE 8.1 Pro, which has the 2.4.19GB-SuSE Kernel (a modified 2.4.19 I presume), and then I upgraded to the vanilla 2.4.22 Kernel. Maybe that's where the inconsistency lies? I do not know.

Please let me into any info you may have, thanks!

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
