Question What exactly necessary in "kernel source"?

Hi,

I have a kind of generic question.

Whan I complied several modules (nvidia, pcmcia-cs and several others), I was asked where kernel source was.

Does anybody know what exactly needed?

header files, System.Map or .config

I know I can try, but I do not want to make my system unstable.

Thanks a lot.

It's looking for the full kernel source tree, usually located in /usr/src/linux.
