Wanted: how to for boot screen image

I use LILO, I have a nice image for a background at the LILO prompt. I was wondering if there's a how-to anywhere that explains how to have an image on the screen after selecting your os. That is to say, an image that is displayed after the LILLO prompt and remains while the kernel messages scroll by until you get to the login prompt. Thaks for any ideas.

If you're using framebuffer, you could use fbsh. I don't know if there is a howto for this, but you could check the conectiva initscripts to get an idea ...

http://bootsplash.org

This is exactly what you want. It's almost as if you found their site and then asked the question... lol

Myself, I don't use it. But if this is what you want, this is the only package I know of that does this.

No problem. Let me know how hard it is to get up and running and how cool it is. I've tossed around using it myself, but didn't really want to go through all the hassle without some user feedback on how it really is.
