Volume Doesn't Work


I Have A Dell Xp. My Speaker Is On Cuz I See The Green Light But My Volume Doesnt Work. I Cant Hear Anything. Anyone Know What To DO?

Open a mixer and check that sound isn't muted.

You did not mention which distro you're using, so I'll ask. Which distro are you using?

Also have you tried one of the mixers to turn up your volume (i.e. kmix, gmix, alsamixer etc....)

Welcome to LQ!

Make sure to restart the computer if you just installed your distribution to restart your sound modules. I'd tell you the command to do that manually, but I don't know it.

If that doesn't work, then try the mixer suggestions above.

PCM

I had the same problem with Debian Sarge. If you are using Gnome, right click on the volume control, click on Preferences, select PCM and click close. Try your volume adjust again. Worked for me.

#alsaconf -------->this take to u in right path?

and then check #alsamixer ------------>this should work well.
#/etc/inin.d/alsa restart ------------>sound should be okay.
