Using society's "eniviro bias" to popularize linux - a viable idea?
I had the most interesting idea today...
Well, we must admit that compared to more stupid, expensive OSes like Window$ and Macintoss-out-the-window, Linux is somehow less popular. Many people have not heard of Linux. It would help development and increase the amount of porting done to it, and just general support to popularize it, right? Well, I think that can be done in an odd way:
People will pay a premium for enviro-friendly stuff right?
they'll most certainly get it if it's free.
Why doesn't someone who knows what they're doing better than I do make an "EnviroLinux" distribution? On the site, one could strongly emphasize "ENERGY EFFICIENCY" and SPEED. More "MPG" XD!!! Like, Make a nice, easy installer, KDE 4.0 or something with lots of energy saving tools too. A Slogan like, "If you care about the environment, you'll use EnviroLinux as your OS."
People go crazy for this crap!
I hate enviro-stuff, but everyone else loves it, so why not try?
It could have lots of sorta hippy-ish leafy natural desktop backgrounds prepackaged.
What do y'all think?
if it was to be made it should be well-documented, if it ever came into being, so that persons of lesser Linux experience would have a general idea of what to do. Lots of hardware support too, much easier that way.
and it could say something like "Save the Polar Bears! Prevent global warming! use EnviroLinux!"
I think global warming is like, SO fake, and the enviro stuff is just the stupidest crap anyone would get on board with, no offense to anyone. Anyway, sorry if I'm offending you with this, I just hate enviro-stuff. It's just marketing, usually.
