Using DD for backup images
Sometime back I read a wonderful article ( under tutorials) "How to do evevything with dd" by Awesome machine . And have been carefully trying out the instructions there with great results. I now alternate between FC5 and FC6 purely because of knowledge gained from this article .
One point I want to mention is that the article mentions a dcfldd as a replacement for dd this comes with the Helix CD. I replaced DD with this and the results were nothing short of fantastic. What was taking over an hour now goes through in less than 20 minutes.
I thought we weren't supposed to do this -- last time I got bored & went hunting old 0-replies & asked something like "Do you still need help w/ this?", I was told by a mod. not to do that.
