Question USB plug and play configuration on Redhat 9.0

Hello,

I would like to use an external hard drive through my laptop's USB port running Redhat 9.0 with kernel 2.4.20-30.9.

Can someone help me the USB configuration?

That's kind of a vague question don't you think? Sure many could help if you provide more details, what you've tried, hardware involved, etc?
