Update or Change Linux

Hi I'm in a problem, I want use phpBB so one requeriment is the use of php 5.3 until php 5.7 and my server have php 5.1.6 so when I downloaded the file rpm and I try installed but the system sent alert messages about NO Linux registered. So I will install Linux CENTO, what are your recomensations about this.

i'm pretty sure centos will have an appropriate version of php.
