I have decided to uninstall my Linux (stored previously on a partition created by DiskDrake within C: ) and have succesfully deleted the linux partitions by running fdisk /dev/hda at the console.
However I am unable to reclaim the disk space allocated for Linux back to Windows !
I dont know how to mess around with the fdisk of DOS ...
My Distrib is Mandrake Linux 8.1
,Windows ME.
Kindly suggest some method of reclaiming lost disk space as i am currently running with only 100 MB of free disk space on my C:
your mbr (master boot record). What manager were you using to boot? Let's start from there. Secondly, did it write to the MBR? Someone might have to help me out here since I'm not familiar with all the boot managers (I just let LILO do my dirty work.)
Once those questions are answered I might be able to tell you more.
You can pop in your mandy installation disc and reformat the free space into fat 32, or if you are afraid of messing the things up ask your friend or anyone who uses Win2K for boot floppies for aforementioned OS, boot from floppies and there Win2K will allow you to reformat the unclaimed disk space into FAT32 or any other file system exept linux's ones :-) and don't install Win2K afterwards, that's about it.
Thanx guys but i dont need to uninstall linux anymore...coz i finally installed it successfully.
Partitioning out space for linux was cauzin some heartache..but got that resolved and my box's is up n runninn...
