Question uninstall kernel-source-2.4.7-12

Hi,

I am so stupid that I installed kernel-source-2.4.7-12 rpm under /usr/src and I am running kernel only 2.4.7-10.

Then, I rm -rf /usr/src/kernel-source-2.4.7-12.

I tried to reinstall kernel-source-2.4.7-10 again. However, it said that there is a newer version 2.4.7-12 installed and not allow me to rpm -Uvh kernel-source-2.4.7-10.

I tried to locate / find / rpm -qa | grep kernel-source*, I tried to rpm -e kernel-source*, but nothing was found or deleted.

Now, I have 2 questions:

1. How can I remove completely the kernel-source-2.4.7-12?

2. If I cannot remove it, how can I install kernel-source-2.4.7-10 under /usr/src?

I have to install it, otherwise I cannot install the Lan card driver.

Thanks in advance.

gogo

way to mess up the rpm db!

if there seems to be no entry in the database to the rpm then howcome it thinks it's still there? what abuot just grep-ing for 'kernel'? [nb you don't need the *]

you can always
a) reinstall the dodgy rpm and then erase it PROPERLY!!!
b) force the install of the older rpm.
rpm -iv --force kernel...........rpmv
