unexpected inconsistancies booting Fdora 16

whenever i try and boot Fedora 16 on my netbook I get this(used to boot so its a new issue)

Loading initial ramdisk ...

those last 2 lines repeating with different numbers....

[ x.xxxxxx] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdc] Assuming drive cashe: write thru
[ x.xxxxxx] sd 5:0:0:0: [sdc] Asking for cashed data failed

where x = a different string of numbers

I am ok with reformatting the computer but would like to save my home directory which is on the same partition anytime i boot the computer from Centos via a usb thunb drive i can access my home drive via the terminal in root but its only read access is there a way to change privilages? I would prefer fixing it but i just want my pc back

how did you install fedora 16 on this netbook

New install or is this an upgrade from 15

if /home is NOT a different partition ( it is recommended that IT IS on a different partition )

do not save it

just save the data
movies,music, documents,....

the file settings might not have the correct se context,or user permissions

also while you are at it
you might want to use fedora 17

only in the terminal ???
odd

gnome should auto mount it and place a link in the menu on the left side of the window

I installed it as a fresh install not as an upgrade and did so when 16 first came out, I would like to upgrade but my internet connection is rather slow and not really capable of downloading such a large file.

And I ment i can boot Centos in graphical form but only have permission to view my Fedora home folder in the terminal under root user but when i try and copy the files to another location i get a message stating lack of permission as a reason for failed copy.

Right now home is on the same partition on my netbook, my laptop has a different partition which is the computer i normally use but it currently is also not working(hardware problem) and as such my netbook has taken its place recently, so yes normally id agree home should have its seperate partition.

Depending what i will install next it probably will, not a big gnome 3 fan so kinda looking at my options, since you encourage not saving the system i will just try and see if saving my data is viable(on my laptop where all my critical data is i have backups so this is not an issue as such never tried to save it before in this situation.

at to large files
you might want to download fedora 17 using the torrent

that way it can start and stop

HOW are you loging in to the root terminal session from the normal user account on cent?
cent ?? what ??
the old cent5 might not be able to read fedoras's EXT4 partition format
the current CentOS6.2 has no problem with the newer ext4 format

or
is fedora a LVM format

it you are doing this in the terminal it will not work
Code:
su
mnt -t ??? /dev/??????
replace -t ??? with the format

you will need to use " su -" and not " su "

also CentOS 6.2 should automatically mount fedora
there should be a listing for it in the left payne in Gnome
or
auto mounted in /mnt
or unlikely in /media
