Question Unblock the windows updates through proxy server?


Dear Experts,

I'm using squid proxy server and i have deny downloading, .exe .flv .mp3 files for all. i am also using windows server 2008 r2 for domain controller but i am facing some windows updates issue. Windows server 2008 not updating windows files.. can you please tell me how to unblock/allow windows updates through proxy server.

there can be different solutions: 1: allow all requests (of exe files) from that windows 2008 server 2: allow all requests to MS update centre. 3. allow from this server to MS Update only.

How your config file looks like now?

i want to apply your first solution 1: allow all requests (of exe files) from that windows 2008 server .. what is command for this rule in squid?

so you will need something like this:
acl windows2008server src <ip of that host>
http_access allow windows2008server
your other rules
but probably you need to refine it...
