Question TV 4 me...

Maybe I posting this question here will get me a response:

I have a Hauppage TV card (BT848 chipset),
my problem is, i can't get it working under mandrake 7.2.
I've tried kwintv an xawtv, kwintv doesnt even let me scan for channels. When i start it up it freezes and the menus dont work or anything. It also usually leads to me having to manually kill the process in another terminal. Xawtv doesnt even come close to working. Is there a configuration i could change or software that i need? During the installation of linux the BT848 chipset was detected and installed succesfully. Help me please...
Im about ready to :smash:

make sure you've got an entry in your /etc/modules.conf, i have a wintv-go running at the moment, with...

alias char-major-81 bttv

set up.

Xawtv and fbtv rock. stick with them, they're VERY simple, and should prety much do all you want.

Thumbs up

Xawtv most definitly rokz! I got it working yesterday.
I almost love it better than my Winblowz TV app, except for the full screen function which is better in windows cause i dont have to change my desktop and switch to enlightenment (from kde) to get true fullscreen.

Thanx once again acid, you're

well that's what i think. I finally paid the extra for a real haupage tv card, and the windows driers are totally awful, the picture ripples all the time, and it's really annoying. However, the generic, home hacked, just for fun linux 878tv driver works perfectly, all the time.
