trying to run klax sudo

I did the following at the boot prompt for klax

klax copy2ram user=prompt

I put in 'toor' for the root password, it accepted, but when I open konsole and "sudo" it wont accept 'toor' as the password: I can't set anything up.

Ahhh, alas, it isn't like knoppix. Why on earth would a version of linux meant to run as a live cd not offer the sudo option without a password?

Help???

That is like holding up high an ice cream and searching on the ground where the ice cream has dropped.

In Klax when you answer the root password before firing up the Linux you are already permanently in root!

Sudo is only used by distros that disallow you to log in as root to the desktop.

Every member of the Slax family permits you to work in the desktop as root. Red Hat (Fedora), Slackware and Mandriva families also allow you to do it. The sudo thing is special to the Debian and its sidekicks like Knoppix, DSL, Ubuntu....

Okay... but

I am used to knoppix... and knoppix as live CD allows "sudo" and uses sudo for things like fsck, etc.

Anyway, I figured out that one cannot use the GUI boot to do the root login, or maybe one can, but at any rate, I did it via the text shell, then used startx to get things going.

New issue. Saved my config as klaxconf.mo On boot, I use the cheatcode configrestore /mnt/sda7/klaxconf.mo

It asks confirmation to load it... and I hit enter and alas, nothing was saved, not even my alterations to rc.local for my network configuration. I changed a few things here and there, exited, it asked me to save, I said yes, it saved, I rebooted, and my changes did not take effect even though the same process was repeated. It is loading/saving something as a 13MB file, but my changes... nope. Curious, because I have used SLAX before and I think this all worked out well. It has been a while

Going to try SLAX killbill version

Thanks for the memory of when I was 5 and I was eating an ice cream cone and the ice cream fell off the cone to the floor of my dads car, and he would not turn around to get me a new one. Instead, he reached over , grabbed the mass of dirty ice cream and tossed it out the window.

The Slax family distros have changed or moved with the time. Most of them are now installed as a Live CD and so everything you do may not be saved. I am pretty sure even the installer has been removed and many distro releases have various bits missing.

The startx is "the" standard way to hoop from a terminal to a graphic desktop. You can always get it from the Slax family, up to now at least.

Nice ice cream story.
