Trouble restoring BkUp using Ubuntu BkUp module

All,
I bought a new 64Bit laptop after my old 32bit started making growling noises and acting flukey. I backed the 32 bit computer up using the on board Ubuntu module. This produced 3 packaged files named :
1/ duplicity-full (nrs) vol1.difftar(2)
2/ duplicity-full-signatures(Nrs).sigtar
3/ duplicity-full-signatures (nrs) sigtar.gz
4/ A page called "duplicity full.(nrs) manifest

The problem is that I can't seem to restore them on the new computer. Dbl.clicking on the package yields an err.Msg. "file type not supported".
I tried using tar to extract them but this also failed. Perhaps I didn't use the correct syntax?
Any help would be appreciated.
Matthew

Did you install duplicity - or at least check the doco ?.
I have a feeling Ubuntu used to use dejavu as a GUI frontend to duplicity, but it's been years since I used Ubuntu. Given that it produces a compressed (and usually encrypted) backup tar, you'll need to use the duplicity restore. Which I believe has to be to an empty target - or at least one that doesn't already contain the file(s) being restored.

Sorry for the delay. I've got more than this going on. On my last computer, I had a "Black Safe" looking object, marked back up your computer. I did so and copied 3 packages-of-files called Duplicity to this newer computer. Here they sit like 3 silent sentinels. I cannot seem to restore.
