tar -z ?
usually when use tar I only do -cvf
alot of the time I see other people's code they do -czvf
in the manual it means filter archive through gzip.
what's exactly difference between using it or not?

when u use czvf it will tar and then gzip
create a test file with tar option and then do du -h filename
then use -czvf then do du -h filename u fel the diff

it's compression. like a zip file. without gzip, it's uncompressed, unless you compress it with something else.
