Are you aware that FC 10 is the current version? Anyway, please change into the directory /home and post the results of the command "ls -la" (that's two small Ls). Or you might have a look at the permissions, groups and owners of your /home/<you> directory by sourself .

what did you do last before this started . fedora 3 is VERY old . I am willing to bet it is a incompatibility issue with any new programs that you might have installed .

What about the results of the above command, ls -la -- at the least that should show us if there's anything odd or unusual about the directory itself.

In addition, can you post the results of mount -- we would like to see how your drives are mounted.

there is the problem .Fedora checks the " /home/UserName" permision AND ownership AND SELinux context . If they are not correct ( or if they are 777 ) then fedora will not boot into that user .

Make a new user and that should fix it .

in fedora if the $HOME/*. config ( ie. ~/.bashrc ,~/.bash_profile ) files are " chmod 777" THEN FEDORA WILL NOT BOOT INTO THAT USER because the $HOME folder is INSECURE . the correct permission would be 755
the same thing goes for the file ownership AND the SELinux context

if the $HOME folder is not secure then that user will not be allowed to login

is the user name the same for ALL the nodes or is that one box different ?

how is /home mounted in /etc/fstab ?
using
Code:
UUID=12345678-1234-????-59gi-dirhr**937cu /home                   ext3    defaults        1 2
-- or  something like my CentOS5.3 "/home"--

/dev/sdb3               /mnt/CentOS/home        ext3    defaults        0 0
or this -- will not work --
/dev/sdb3        /home        ext3    defaults        0 0
if it is mounted directly to / then there might be a permission issue
