Hi everyone.
I've got a problem.
When I try to logout from KDE 3.5 GUI the system hangs up for about 20 seconds and the led of one of my two DVD units blinks (and it make sounds like if it's searching for a disk which actually isn't there) before the window with the logout/shutdown buttons appear.

This happen with ANY user. I never had this problem with any older slackware versions.

I'm using Slackware 11. My two DVDs units are linked with a single parallel ata cable to the main channel (the one that blinks is set as master).

Anyone has got an idea? thanks.

Hi, and welcome to LQ!

If it doesn't happen with other window managers it may be related
to KDEs recent integration with HAL... try something slimmer and see
what happens.

Uhm... using other window managers the problem doesn't occur....

However, I think i'll try to tweak some Hal settings if it's possible, before switching to xfce, gnome, or something else.

If I discover something I'll let you know.

uhm... Actually I'm not running Hal. so, maybe the problem is with udev configuration....
