Swap partition question.


Since I have 512 RAM will i need the swap file?

And to answer your question right off the bat.. yes, its in your best interest to create a swap partition.

With 512 MB of RAM, you could get away with just creating a 100 MB swap. That's all I use for my desktop Linux boxes and its never touched. Even my FTP, SSH and NFS server running with only 64 megs of RAM hasn't touched its 100 MB swap as of yet.

Hehe.. and its been running happily for 112 days now with no problems. I'm proud of it. Would have been another 40 days tacked on to that but I had to replace the PSU....
