Suse Linux Reimaging problem

Hi,

I have created ghost image using symantec ghost 2003 on a machine having OS: SUSE10.1.

The partition structure on the machine is as follows.

/ ----- ext3 ----- 48GB
/ISV ----- ext3 ----- 70GB
/swap ----- swap ----- 2GB
/mnt/winpe--- FAT ----- 30GB

Even I have chosen to install boot loader at boot sector of boot partition i.e. /dev/sda1 during OS installation.

I have copied this image to a winXP machine's D-Drive. I have reimaged this machine with newly taken images.

But after rebooting, the machine is hanging showing the message "grub". As I could understand, the OS is unable to identify the bootloader.

It would be really helpful, if someone can help me to resolve this issue.

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,
Rajesh.

That's cause your bootloader ain't there. It's on the MBR, which is /dev/sda. It's not on a partition. Don't get creative homey.

SUSE reimaging problem

Thanks for your prompt reply.

I have chosen to insall boot loader at boot sector of partition only.
I have not selected to install it at MBR.

If i try to reimage the same machine, where I have captured the image it is working fine.

But I am getting the problem in the following situation only.

a) copy the image to other machine having windows or Linux OS.
b) re-imaged the machine

After re-imaging the machine is not booting up. it stops booting only showing the message "grub".

It would be really great help for me, if u can give resolution for this problem.

Thanks,
Rajesh.
