stopping mysql during startup


during the install of slackware 10.0 on my desktop, i enabled mysqld to automatically startup because i thought i might use it in the future. so the future has come and past, and i'm not using it at all. how would i go about stopping it from starting up everytime i boot my computer?

You can run:
chmod 400 /etc/rc.d/rc.mysqld

you could try

chkconfig mysqld off
