ssh and more advanced configurations

Is it possible to start a movie on my laptop, and send just the sound to my server?

It won't work to start a movie via ssh as usual, because I think the encryption / decryption process isn't fast enough, so the framrate of the movie will be bad.

In other words: I'm looking for tools that would enable me to do the above, or more advanced configuration options with ssh if there are any.
