ssh. a problem using OSX to get into redhat9

i have two computers, a PowerBook G4 running OSX 10.3, and an HP runing RedHat 9. I can easilly login to my powerbook from my redhat by typing an account name, the admin p/w, and the ip. such as
'ssh joe@192.168.1.100
Password:
Welcome to Darwin!'

but i cant seem to login to my redhat system. and sshd is enabled. anyhelp? i try typing account names, localhost names. and i get a p/w, but no p/w i enter ever works. anyhelp?

Do you have iptables set up on the Red Hat box? They could be blocking the ssh connection. Are you using TCP wrappers? They could also be blocking it.

i dont believe i have iptables set up. and for TCP wrappers, not sure what that is, but im using a crossover cable between the 2.
