Software RAID 1

I have a SUSE 9.1 server that I've setup Software RAID 1 on. The first question is why I can not create a "/" partition that is RAID?

The second question is why when I remove a hard disk from the array do I get an fsck error when trying to boot on the "/" partition that does not let me past it. No matter what I do I can't get the disk to boot.

Thanks,

cybercrypt

Have you set the partition types of the bootable partitions to mode FD?
If not, you need to make the partitions mode FD using fdisk or similar utility.

Yes

I've just tried changing things but still having the same problem.

/boot is not part of the array

/
/usr
/tmp
/swap
/home are part of the array with their partition sizes being the same on both drives. All 0xFD types and then formated as part of the array.

Everything works great to boot up, however, if I remove the second drive the computer will not boot and if I remove the first drive it won't even try. I understand this part though because the boot information has only gotten written to the first drive, but both these problems has to be solved for me to use this.

Thanks,

cybercrypt
