shifting postgres to another partition


Hi,

i have run short of space in / and in order to run postgres it needs space on it. i have enough space availabble on /tmp and /boot. is there any way through which i can transfer existing postgres data to another partition or increase space in /.. plz reply with step by step instruction as i am new to linux
