Share name not found!!! HELP

Ok im a linux newbie so i think this is in the right section, if not im sorry for the trouble.

I have been using linux for a week and have been trying to get my head around samba for a few days now.

I have installed and configured samba and can mount and read (using LinNeighborhood) the directory on the win98 comp from my linux box (although i can not write to it, but im sure thats only a permission problem), my problem comes when i try to read the shared dir on my linux box from win98, I can see the dir but cant access it to read the files as the following error surfaces ---

\\LOCALHOST\<DIR> is not accessible
The Share name was not found.
Be sure you typed it correctly.

I have looked through the samba file and nothing seems misspelt or mistyped?
Has anyone got any ideas on how to fix the problem?

I'm sure that a moderator will move this thread to the networking section where it belongs, but in the meantime, you could post your conf file here and also tell us if you are use win98 or win98SE

Regards, Kenny

have you configured /etc/lisarc and started up the lisa daemon?

lisa -c /etc/lisarc

i put this in my /etc/rc.d/rc.local start up script so it starts automatically at boot up (using red hat 7.3, so other distros may use a different start up script).

edit: nevermind missed the part about linNeighborhood... my bad....

ok guys thanx for your help i fixed the problem. What i did was reinstall redhat and config samba through the shell instead of using redhat-config-samba. Now my linux to win98 (and win98 to linux) works fine ....woo hoo
